OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Slocan Valley Outriders Association has been horsing around the Slocan Valley since 1978.
We are a non profit society committed to fun, safe, lifelong learning with our horses, and we host a number of events each year, such as family fun days, trail rides, poker rides, clinics and more. Our members are horse lovers who enjoy sharing their love for horses with families, friends and community.
In a continued effort to contribute to our community we are preparing our riding grounds to be able to safely host both livestock and people in the event of an evacuation due to forest fire or flood.
FACILITIES
Our grounds are located at 910 Arlington Road in the Village of Slocan. At the SVOA grounds you will find a concession/kitchen building, a riding arena (100'x200'), a 50' round pen, twelve 10x10 horse pens, outhouse, water system, and lots of room for parking and camping with shady picnic and tenting areas.
Also in 2023 the club was able to achieve our long term vision for perimeter fencing around the grounds, establishing a secure and safe place for all members, horses, children and surrounding community. Our grounds are now fully fenced and gated which adds an extra level of safety assurance and a relaxed atmosphere.
One of our main successes and top achievements was being able to officially offer and advertise the grounds as a safe and fully secure location for evacuee livestock, for all Central Kootenay communities during the 2023 wildfire season; and to continually be able to do so in the future.
